A ten acre enclave at the heart of Miami’s burgeoning downtown Brickell district and on the banks of Biscayne Bay, Icon is by nature as it is in name.  Obviously touched by arguably the world’s most famous designer, Philippe Starck, Icon comprises three majestic towers, two of 57 storeys and the third of 50 storeys, the latter devoted to the Hotel Viceroy Miami, part of the distinctive Kor Hotel Group.

Starck makes his madcap presence felt even before stepping foot inside Icon by way of a multi-level entrance serving all three towers flanked by 100 bronze and silver columns displaying a modern take on the Moai - the monolithic human figures with oversized heads found on Easter Island in the South Pacific.  Each 22ft tall and bearing Starck’s signature, these artworks set the tone for what lies within.  The three lobbies have soaring 22ft high ceilings and are flooded with light refracted by the yellow glass at the entrance as well as expanses of shiny white wall and ceiling.

The two-acre pool deck nestled between the two 57 storey towers forms an imposing centerpiece some 100ft above Biscayne Bay on the 15th floor.  A series of three infinity edge pools course up the centre including a lounge pool where furniture sits in the water, a thermal hottub and a longer-than-Olympic lap pool.  The views are incredible and a life-size chess set with oversized fireplace add to the typically Starck curiosity and drama.  Neat rows of sunloungers and daybeds accented by verdant trees flank the pool whilst a full-size restaurant and pool-side café are also in residence.  One floor below the pool deck, Icon’s 28,000ft² Spa and Fitness Centre with mesmerizing Biscayne Bay views offers the complete range of five-star luxuries from cardio and free weights to aerobic and yoga classes through to treatment rooms and saunas.

Dining is also held in great importance at Icon with no less than five eateries including a Viceroy Signature restaurant.  Club 50 alongside the Hotel pool on Viceroy Miami’s 50th floor comes alive at night with sophisticated cocktails, light dining options and atmospheric décor courtesy of world-class tastemaker Kelly Wearstler.

Expected to complete in Spring 2009, Icon comprises studios and one two and three bedroom apartments as well as single and double storey penthouse units, each with far-reaching views across Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach or downtown Miami.  Offering the ultimate in urban living, spacious terraces are encased in glass railings, windows are floor-to-ceiling and room heights an exceptional 9ft.  The homes enjoy air-conditioning, sprinkler systems and smart technology with high speed cabling for telephone, TV and data communication.  Owners can opt from two Italian kitchen cabinet designs, select from Yoo by Starck bathrooms and indulge in various upgrade options from Venetian mirrors to blue St Tropez limestone flooring throughout.

Despite its downtown location, Icon’s enclave takes in no less than two parks and 1,000ft of waterfront ideal for lazy strolls or energetic jogs.  A private dock is on-hand for residents and visitors to moor their yachts or if your mode of transport is more conventional, Icon also has several levels of covered parking.

Dozens of Miami’s finest dining spots, bars, playhouses, concert halls and Miami’s new Performing Arts Centre are literally on the doorstep whilst renowned South Beach with its Art Deco delights, Miami International Airport and the Port of Miami – the cruise capital of the world - are all within a 15 minute drive.

Prices at Icon start from 400,000 USD (approx. €290,000 euros or £260,000 pounds) for a studio condo unit.
